The current commitment of our firm was initiated in 1904 by Charles H. Blank. He had a vision of providing a retail service to the "new town" that was springing up all along the Connoquenessing Creek. The first delivery fleets were horses and wagons, offering coal and ice on a seasonal demand, then branching into home building supplies.
In the 1920's, the company's ownership was transferred to his brother George W. Blank, the name the company still carried until early 2002. As time progressed, the firm widened its retail offerings expanding into concrete blocks in 1921, ready mix concrete in 1937, septic tanks in 1956, and home heating oil from 1959 - 1998. The firm currently offers over 2000 building supply inventory items.
George's three sons became actively involved, continuing the commitment to provide a quality service to the community. The late Howard E. Blank assumed the office responsibilities and the late
J. Kenneth Blank maintained the delivery fleet and yard organization.
G. William Blank Jr. actively supervised the concrete block manufacturing aspect and continues his involvement today as an invaluable source of information and support. These three brothers dedicated their lives to the company and its operation.
For more than twenty-five years, John E. Smith, nephew of G. William Blank Jr., and David J. Blank, son of J. Kenneth Blank, have been actively involved in the company. For several years, Lee Ann Smith has been involved with customer relations, and Sandy Blank has assisted in the office. Recently, the fourth generation began involvement in the company with Erin, Jeff, and Amy Blank, and Tyson and Chad Smith assisting in the daily operations on a part time basis. Bill serves as the President of the company, John as the Secretary/General Manager, and David as the Treasurer.
We have grown from several horses and wagons to a fleet of trucks, including all front discharge ready mix concrete trucks, a 10 cube block truck, a 8 ton dump truck, and several pieces of support equipment.
Loading of precise mix designed concrete in a matter of minutes, is accomplished with a state of the art computerized batch plant which was added in 1998. As we continue to update our facilities we are striving for over 100 years of family owned and operated service.
In early 2002, the company's name was changed to Blank Concrete & Supply to reflect the current product line. Blank Concrete & Supply prides itself in the prompt and reliable distribution of quality products and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2004!
